Frequently asked questions.

How is my pottery fired?

My pottery is made with either Cone 10 or Cone 6 commercial clay. Cone 10 clay is fired in a gas high fire kiln and reaches a temperature of 2350F and is fully vitrified at that temperature. Cone 6 clay is fired in an electric kiln and reaches a temperature of 2232F degrees and is fully vitrified at that temperature. That means both clays are made of very strong and durable stoneware and the vitrification makes them less porous. All of the items made for use in the oven are made with lead free safe glazes, and are fired to Cone 10. Hand wash all hand made pottery to avoid damage.

How is my pottery made?

All of my pottery hand-built. None of my pottery is made using a wheel. I hand paint all decorative applications, such as facial features and glaze applications. I use a combination of slabs and coils to create the 3 dimensional effects of my pottery.

How long does each piece take to make?

It takes anywhere from 8-10 months from beginning to end to make my sculptures. Bake ware takes an estimated time frame of 3 months and decorative items take an average of 3-4 weeks from beginning to end.

What oven temperature can I use with the bake ware?

We use oven temperatures up to 425 degrees with no issue. It is advisable to pre-heat your bake ware but is not always necessary.
